Our Nursery
Our nursery is part of the school’s Foundation Stage, which includes both nursery and reception children. This integrated setting enables children aged 2 to 5 to learn and play alongside one another in a well-resourced, nurturing environment.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which focuses on ensuring that every child makes good progress and no child is left behind. Staff work closely with families to support each child’s development and wellbeing, recognising that every child is unique, with their own interests, personality and learning style.
Children learn through a balance of play, exploration and structured adult-led activities. Learning is planned responsively, based on regular observations and assessments, and the curriculum is adapted to reflect the children’s developmental needs.
Daily Life in Nursery
Our nursery offers a calm and caring start to school life, with a strong emphasis on emotional security, independence and communication.
Hours and Wraparound Care
The nursery runs during school hours, and wraparound care is available from 8:00am to 6:00pm once your child is fully settled. This can be especially helpful for working families or those with older children in the school.
Admissions and Eligibility
We welcome children as soon as they turn three years old, and there is no need to wait for a specific intake in September or January. Full-time nursery places are currently available at no additional cost. We are also able to accept a small number of funded two-year-olds, depending on staffing ratios and eligibility.
Environment
The nursery is based in a dedicated Early Years area, with spacious indoor classrooms and generous outdoor play areas, allowing children to be active, curious and imaginative throughout the day.
Reading and Language
From an early age, children are encouraged to develop a love of stories and language. They regularly visit our whole-school library, enjoy daily story time and take part in activities that promote early phonics, vocabulary and communication skills.
Ethos and Values
As a Catholic school welcoming families of all faiths and none, our ethos underpins everything we do. Through daily interactions, play and teaching, we support children to develop empathy, cooperation, kindness and a strong sense of right and wrong.
Working in Partnership
We value strong relationships with parents and carers and see this partnership as central to a child’s success. Parents are kept informed of their child’s learning and development through regular conversations, observations and opportunities to engage with their child’s progress.
Whether you are already part of the school community or looking to join us, we encourage you to speak to our team if you have questions about your child’s transition into nursery or day-to-day nursery life.
