Pupil Leadership & Chaplaincy

At our school, we believe that leadership can begin at any age. Through our pupil leadership opportunities, children are encouraged to develop responsibility, compassion and service to others. Inspired by our mission, “Excellence Together with Christ at the Centre,” pupils are given meaningful roles that help them contribute positively to the life of the school and wider community.

Pupil leadership is rooted in our Catholic ethos and helps children to live out Gospel values in practical ways. Two key groups who help lead and shape our school community are our Pupil Chaplaincy Team and our Playground Buddies.

Pupil Chaplaincy Team

Our Pupil Chaplaincy Team plays an important role in supporting the spiritual life of the school. Working alongside staff, these pupils help to nurture a prayerful and reflective environment where faith is lived and celebrated.

Members of the chaplaincy team help to:

  • Support and develop prayer and collective worship across the school
  • Lead or assist with assemblies, prayer services and liturgical celebrations
  • Encourage their classmates to live out our school values and follow the example of Jesus
  • Promote and support the principles of Catholic Social Teaching within school life
  • Organise and support charitable fundraising and outreach initiatives

Through their leadership, the chaplaincy team helps our school community to grow in faith and understanding, encouraging everyone to reflect on how we can serve others and work for the Common Good.

Playground Buddies

Our Playground Buddies are pupils who help to make our playground a happy, welcoming and inclusive place for everyone.

Inspired by the Christian principle of Caritas – love in action – these pupils take seriously their responsibility to care for others and ensure that no child feels alone at playtime.

Playground Buddies help by:

  • Welcoming and supporting pupils who may feel lonely or unsure where to play
  • Teaching and organising games and activities so that everyone can join in
  • Promoting kindness, friendship and respect across the playground
  • Helping younger pupils to feel confident and included
  • Supporting children who may feel unwell or upset and helping them seek help from an adult when needed

Through their service, Playground Buddies model the values of love, joy and peace, helping to build a playground culture where every child feels valued and part of our school family.

Together, our pupil leaders show that even the youngest members of our community can make a powerful contribution to school life. By encouraging responsibility, service and compassion, these roles help our pupils grow as confident individuals who are ready to make a positive difference in the world.
